Srinagar: Scores of people have been arrested after Indian forces personnel launched a series of cordon-and-search operations across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the personnel from Indian army’s Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operation Group conducted operations in Thanamandi, Darhal, Kalakote, Manjakote, Basantgarh, Rai Chak, Kadwah, Ponara, Loudhra, and Sang areas of Rajouri and Udhampur districts. Several documents were seized during these raids.
In the ensuing operations, the troops interrogated and questioned residents in different areas of Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Islamabad, Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam districts.
Meanwhile, Indian police have installed additional checkpoints and intensified frisking at entry points into Srinagar. Paramilitary CRPF personnel are also conducting random checks in uptown areas such as Batamaloo and downtown parts of the city.
The Indian police and agencies are closely monitoring the activities and movements of people in various towns across the valley.
During search operations and house raids, Indian police forces have arrested at least 30 people under the controversial Public Safety Act (PSA), transferring them to jails outside the valley.
