Ruhullah slams communal harassment of Kashmiri traders in Himachal Pradesh

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior leader of the National Conference and Indian parliament member Agha Ruhullah Mehdi has strongly condemned the communal harassment faced by Kashmiri traders in Surjanpur village, Himachal Pradesh, attributing the incident to the divisive policies of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the state and across India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the harassment of two traders, instigated by the wife of a local Sarpanch, was captured in a disturbing video that quickly went viral on social media. In the footage, the woman is seen threatening the traders and coercing them to chant “Jai Shri Ram.”

She also urges the local community to boycott the traders’ products. The woman further instructs the traders, “Do not come to Himachal. This land belongs to Hindus; you will not be allowed to sell here.”

Highlighting the growing atmosphere of division fostered by such actions, Agha Ruhullah, in a post on X, demanded accountability, stating, “If there is any part of India that still upholds the law, this woman should be booked.” He continued, “The idea of India promoted by the BJP is evident in this 2-3 minute video. Kashmir is not part of India. Too much for the ‘integration of Kashmir’ after the abrogation of Article 370.” Mehdi also criticized the disturbing trend, adding, “The criteria for holding Indian citizenship seems to be chanting a slogan of a particular religion.”
