Mirwaiz criticizes govt employees’ termination in IIOJK
Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has criticized the Lieutenant Governor’s decision to dismiss government employees in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Faroq in a post on X condemned the dismissals, stating that two more government employees terminated without any legal recourse. Families have been rendered destitute before the onset of harsh winters. Punishment and fear is the hallmark of an authoritarian mindset that has been ruling in IIOJK, he added.
Mirwaiz’s statement came a day after two government employees were removed from service by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for alleged terror connections.
“The elected administration should take immediate measures to stop this injustice and reinstate all the terminated employees,” he added.
The two dismissed employees were identified as Abdul Rehman Naika, a pharmacist in the health department, and Zahir Abbas, a teacher in the school education department.
It is pertinent to mention that puppet Lt Governor of IIOJK had invoked Article 311 (2) (c) of the Indian Constitution to terminate the employees. Under this provision, dozens government employees have been dismissed in recent years.
