Killing of 5 Muslims in UP: NC leader Ruhullah Mehdi visits Sambhal
Demands justice for victims of police firing
Sambhal (UP), : Senior National Conference leader and Member of Indian Parliament, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, visited Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, to meet the families of those killed in a police firing and assess the situation.
According to Kashmir Media Service, five Muslim youths, including a minor, were shot dead by police during a protest against a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jamia Masjid on November 24.
During his visit, Mehdi spoke with residents and noted the tense, fearful atmosphere, with most shops and homes shuttered. He emphasized the community’s history of peaceful coexistence while rejecting attempts to frame the incident as a communal issue. “This is not a Hindu-Muslim conflict, but a clash between a particular ideology and Muslims,” he said.
Mehdi condemned the violence as a failure of the state and urged the UP administration to act swiftly, ensure justice, and hold the responsible parties accountable. He stressed that efforts to instigate communal tensions must be thwarted, and justice must be delivered to the victims of Sambhal.
