Stampede during Hindu festival leaves 20 injured in Kerala
Thiruvanthanapuram: A stampede during a Hindu religious festival in the Indian state of Kerala resulted in the injury of over 20 people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred during the concluding ceremony of the four-day annual Hindu religious festival in the Thiruvur area of Malappuram district. The chaos erupted when an elephant, startled and panicked, charged into the crowd. The elephant’s attack caused widespread fear, leading to a stampede-like situation. As a result, more than 20 people were trampled.
Police officials said that the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, with several in critical condition. Hundreds of people were present at the event, including women and children.
