Yogi govt orders eviction of 12 Muslim-owned shops in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow: The BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government has issued notices to 12 Muslim shop owners in Sambhal city, ordering them to vacate the premises within 24 hours.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian authorities have claimed that the shops, located near the historic Thanewali Masjid mosque, to have been built on encroached government land.
The Yogi-led UP-government has threatened to demolish the shops using bulldozers if the owners fail to comply with the order.
Out of the 12 shops identified, 11 owners pay rent to a mosque located behind the premises. Indian authorities have said that all shopkeepers have been asked to vacate voluntarily, failing which legal action and forced removal will follow.
