Event at Pakistani Consulate in Houston marks Kashmir Solidarity Day
Houston: The Pakistani Consulate in Houston, US, hosted a unique event on Kashmir Solidarity Day to show sympathy for the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, prominent among those who attended the ceremony, include Vice Consul General Ashar Shehzad, Sikh community leaders including Hardam Azad Singh, and Friends of Kashmir Chairperson Ghazala Habib. Social activists Dr. Asif Qadeer, Ashraf Bashir, and Tahir Bhatti were among the other prominent guests.

Messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read during the gathering, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
Speaking at the event, Ghazala Habib condemned India’s brutal actions in IIOJK, stating that draconian laws and oppressive policies had turned the occupied territory into a land of fear. Vice Consul General Ashar Shehzad emphasized that the observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5 serves as a reminder to the international community of its unfulfilled promises to the Kashmiri people.
Sikh leader Hardam Azad Singh extended full support to the Kashmiris’ struggle, vowing to stand by them in their quest for freedom.
Dr. Asif Qadeer urged the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora to play a more active role in raising awareness about the Kashmir issue.
Other speakers, including Ashraf Bashir and Tahir Bhatti, also expressed their deep concern over India’s continued oppression in Kashmir and reiterated their commitment to advocating for the Kashmiri cause.
