FIR lodged against Rahul Gandhi for making ‘anti-national’ comments
Modi following path of ousted Bangladeshi prime minister Sheikh Hasina
New Delhi: Similar to the way that ousted Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had handled the opposition in the country and faced a revolution resulted in her ouster, the Modi regime is doing the same against his opposition in India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in one such latest move, the regime has filed a a lawsuit against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Jharsuguda district of Odisha for allegedly making some “anti-national” comments. A senior police officer has confirmed the registration of the case against the opposition leader.
The FIR was registered based on a complaint lodged by members of BJP, its youth wing, RSS, Bajrang Dal, of Jharsuguda district against Gandhi to IGP Northern Range, Himanshu Lal on February 5, the officer said.
The FIR has been registered against Gandhi under section 152 (criminalizes acts that threaten India’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity), 197(1) (d) (for making or publishing false or misleading information that threatens India’s unity, sovereignty, integrity, or security) of BNS, the officer said.
The complaint alleged that Gandhi has been deliberately making anti-national statements which hurt each and every Indian individual. The IGP forwarded the complaint to Jharsuguda SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas for inquiry and necessary legal action. As per the direction of the SP, an FIR has been registered against Gandhi at Jharsuguda police station (case No 31).
Rahul Gandhi has not yet commented on the issue. However, senior Congress leader Srikant Jena stated that the party has been fighting against the ideology of the BJP and RSS, and that he needs to see the nature of the allegation before commenting further.
