Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has condemned the prohibition of “Shab-e-Barat” at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, occupied Jammu and Kashmir and house arrest of senior Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar called the sealing of Jamia Masjid on Shabe Barat unfortunate, adding the decision has further disappointed the Kashmiri Muslims.

He condemned in the strongest terms the curbs on Kashmiri Muslims to practise their religion and restrain them from congregating on special religious occasions in the territory.

He said the people of IIOJK have displayed their political maturity, sagacity and pragmatism beyond excellence by standing and sacrifices for the Kashmir cause and right to self-determination.

He also praised the freedom-loving people and illegally detained leaders and activists of the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for giving a tough political fight with their stand to India on internal and external fronts.

He said the Indian forces, led by BJP’s LG Manoj Sinha, have intensified their repression against innocent Kashmiris before the holy month of Ramadan.

The APHC spokesman, while expressing serious concern over the upsurge in the arrest spree by Indian troops and police across the occupied territory, urged the UN to impress upon India to stop its anti-Kashmir agendas and human rights violations in IIOJK and resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

He called upon the world community for the release of thousands of Kashmir political prisoners including leadership who have been held by the Indian government in its jails.
