India’s military tech ambitions more like self-deception than self-reliance

New Delhi: India’s desire for self-reliance in military technology remains unfulfilled as vital defense projects encounter operational failures.

According to Kashmir Media Service, even after spending years of development, the Akash missile system’s success rate remains below 50%, while the Tejas fighter jet continues to suffer from engine failures and design flaws.

After decades of investment, the Arjun tank still faces reliability issues, and the MRSAM air defense system’s defects betray critical vulnerabilities.

Besides, drone programs, anti-tank missiles, and advanced jets like the Su-30MKI have also caused embarrassment for the Indian governmnt during demonstrations. As corruption, mismanagement and underperformance plague the country’s defense sector, India’s military modernization ambitions appear more like self-deception than self-reliance.
