Kashmiris suffer due to unrelenting military siege, draconian black laws: APHC

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continued to suffer immensely due to the unrelenting military and police siege and draconian black laws imposed by Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian government since August 05, 2019.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar said the unresolved Kashmir dispute is the root cause of tension and unrest between India and Pakistan.

He criticized India for not fulfilling its promise to the Kashmiri people about granting them the right to self-determination to decide their political future.

He also condemned the so-called Chief Minister of the territory, Omar Abdulla for an interview to BBC in which he claimed, “There was no scope of India initiating a dialogue with Pakistan following a spree of attacks on Indian forces and camps in Jammu & Kashmir”. The spokesman said Omar Abdullah is a puppet of New Delhi and he always misleads the people for his personal interests.

Abdul Rashid Minhas said that the National Conference and the BJP/RSS were on the same page when New Delhi snatched the Article 370 and 35A of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. NC is also involved in all anti-Kashmiri agendas and illegal detentions of Hurriyat leadership and youth, he added.

He maintained that the people of Kashmiri wanted a solution to the lingering Kashmir dispute on the basis of the right to self-determination as per the United Nations resolution of January 5, 1949 so that they could live peacefully and with dignity.

The APHC spokesman said after revoking the special status of IIOJK, the Indian authorities imposed restrictions and arbitrarily detained thousands of people, including political leaders, activists, journalists and lawyers.
.
He said Indian forces’ personnel are committing human rights abuses in IIOJK under the cover of Armed Forces Special Powers Act, which grants them impunity for their brutal actions.
