Deepening power crisis in Shopian belies Modi regime’s tall claims in IIOJK

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, residents of Kathpora in Shopian are grappling with a severe power outage that has now persisted for six days, causing immense hardships to the local population.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the crisis has once again exposed Modi government’s claims of widespread infrastructure development post abrogation of Article 370 in the occupied territory and the harsh realities faced by Kashmiris including students, businesses and households. Despite multiple appeals to the concerned authorities, no action has been taken to restore electricity.

Locals are particularly disheartened, as the outage continues even during the sacred month of Ramadan. “We are very disappointed with this department. For several days, we have been appealing and bringing this issue to the authorities’ notice, but we are being ignored. Even in this blessed month of Ramadan, we have to suffer”, said locals.

The residents of Kathpora have urgently called on the Power Development Department (PDD) to prioritize the restoration of electricity, urging swift intervention to avoid further hardships.

This ongoing crisis serves as a stark reminder of the disconnect between New Delhi’s claims of progress in IIOJK and the everyday challenges faced by its people.
