5.2 magnitude earthquake jolts Kargil, tremors felt in Kashmir
Srinagar: A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Kargil in Ladakh, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
The earthquake occurred at 2:50AM at a depth of 15 kilometres. Tremors of the earthquake were felt in the Kashmir region as well.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage to property.
Notably, Leh district falls under Seismic Zone IV, classified as a high-damage risk zone, due to the strike-slip fault running along the Zanskar and Ladakh ranges.
