Ruhullah Mehdi raises alarm over forced land seizures in IIOJK
New Delhi: National Conference Member of Parliament Agha Ruhullah Mehdi has raised concerns in the Indian Parliament over the forcible confiscation of Kashmiris’ agricultural land and orchards under the pretext of railway construction in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehdi said, “Our orchards and farmlands, sustaining families for decades, are being seized for railways we never agreed to. How is this ‘development’ when it tramples our rights?”
He further highlighted that the revocation of Article 370 stripped IIOJK of its special status, and now, land grabs threaten to erase the region’s cultural and economic roots. “How many more layers of loss must Kashmiris endure before this exploitation ends?” he questioned.
“Democracy shouldn’t be selective,” he said adding that India lectures the world about it while bulldozing it in Kashmir.
