Burhan Wani breathed new life into Kashmir freedom struggle, speakers at Mirpur gathering

Mirpur: Speakers at a prayer gathering in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, paid glowing tributes to iconic youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani on his 9th martyrdom anniversary, saying he infused new life into the Kashmir freedom movement through his supreme sacrifice.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the event was held at a local hotel in Mirpur and was attended by prominent political and social figures.

Speakers including, senior Hurriyat leader Altaf Ahmad Bhat, Kashmiri leader Malik Aslam, former President of Kashmir Press Club Abdul Hameed Rao, Rights Forum leader Farooq Jarral, Refugee Action Committee Mirpur District leader Mirza Riaz Jarral, former General Secretary of Mirpur Bar Abdul Rehman Umar Jarral, and former President of Al-Khidmat Foundation Mirza Zafar Javed Jarral, hailed Burhan Wani as a symbol of resistance who awakened a new spirit of defiance among Kashmiri youth.

They noted that Burhan Wani effectively utilized modern technology to highlight the Kashmir freedom struggle at the international level and to expose Indian atrocities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They said that Burhan sent a clear message to the world that the people of Kashmir were waging a peaceful struggle for their UN-recognized right to self-determination.

The participants reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Kashmiri people to continue their just struggle until its logical conclusion. They expressed confidence that the sacrifices of the martyrs would soon lead to the liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir from India’s illegal occupation.

The speakers also emphasized that the sacred blood of Kashmiri martyrs would never go in vain, as the martyrs are the most precious asset of the ongoing freedom movement.
