Pakistan strongly rebuffs India’s baseless claims at UN, reaffirms Kashmir’s disputed status
New York: Pakistan has categorically stated that India remains an illegal occupier of Jammu and Kashmir, a territory internationally recognized as disputed, and continues to deny its people their UN-mandated right to self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, deputy permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN, delivered a strong and unambiguous response to the Indian representative’s irresponsible and baseless allegations during a high-level open debate of the UN Security Council. He said India is involved in sponsoring terrorism and committing gross human rights violations, particularly against minorities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and across India.
He also condemned India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a grave breach of international law. Highlighting India’s unprovoked aggression against Pakistan in May 2025, which targeted civilians including women and children, the Pakistani envoy said Islamabad exercised its right to self-defence and responded in a responsible and effective manner, downing several Indian warplanes.
Jadoon warned India against pursuing its false victimhood narrative and urged it to face the truth and honour its international obligations. He stressed the importance of implementing the relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, saying India’s refusal to do so has further complicated the longstanding dispute.
