President Zardari, PM Shehbaz pay tribute to Captain Sarwar Shaheed
77th martyrdom anniversary of Kashmir war's hero being observed today

Islamabad, July 27 (KMS): The 77th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Raja Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, the first recipient of Nishan-e-Haider and a valiant hero of the Pakistan Army, is being observed today with deep respect and national pride.
According to Kashmir Media Service, President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message, paid tribute to Captain Sarwar Shaheed by highlighting his supreme sacrifice in the first Kashmir war. He noted that Captain Sarwar laid down his life for the motherland and that the nation takes pride in his courage, perseverance, and great sacrifice. The president emphasized that the security Pakistan enjoys today is the result of the heroic sacrifices made by its martyrs. He further stated that these sacrifices form the foundation of the country’s defense and stability, and that the nation will always remember Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed’s contribution.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, also praised the bravery of Captain Sarwar Shaheed. He acknowledged that Captain Sarwar successfully thwarted the enemy’s attempt to occupy Jammu and Kashmir and embraced martyrdom in the process. The prime minister affirmed that the sacrifices of the martyrs can never be forgotten by the nation.
Raja Muhammad Sarwar was born in Singhori village in Gujjar Khan district on November 10, 1910. He was commissioned in Punjab Regiment in 1944. During Kashmir war, he rendered supreme sacrifice for the nation and embraced martyrdom on July 27th, 1948 at Tilpatra in Azad Kashmir. He was awarded first Nishan-e-Haider.
