Malegaon blast verdict disappointing: Owaisi

New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi has expressed deep disappointment over the acquittal of all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case by the court, terming it as the result of deliberately flawed investigation and prosecution.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Asaduddin Owaisi in a message on X termed the decision of a special court in Mumbai to acquit all seven accused, including BJP leader Pragya Thakur and Lieutenant Colonel Purohit, after 17 years, on the basis of insufficient evidence as disappointing.
He said that six worshippers were killed and around 100 injured in the blast and that they were targeted because of their religion. He said that the deliberately flawed investigation and weak prosecution were responsible for the acquittal of the accused.
He said that 17 years after the blast, the court acquitted all the accused due to lack of evidence. Will the BJP governments of Modi and Devendra Fadnavis appeal against this decision in the same way they appealed against the acquittal of the accused in the Mumbai train blasts,? he questioned.
Asaduddin Owaisi said that will the secular political parties of Maharashtra demand accountability? Who killed these six people?
It should be noted that in 2008, six worshippers were killed and over 100 were injured in a bomb blast outside a mosque in the Muslim-majority city of Malegaon in Maharashtra.
