Mysterious death of youth near Bangla border sparks protests against BSF

Silchar: The mysterious death of a local youth, Nirmal Namasudra, near the Indo-Bangla border in Amtala area of Kinnorkhal, Katigorah, has triggered widespread public outrage and protests.

According to Kashmri Media Service, the incident, occurred on Friday night, led to massive demonstrations in front of the Katigorah police station on Saturday.

According to locals, 30-year-old Namasudra was picked up and brutally assaulted by BSF soldiers while he was found loitering near the border. He reportedly sustained severe injuries and was taken to Katigorah Model Hospital by the soldiers, without informing his family. As his condition worsened, he was referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital but died en route.

Angry residents gathered in large numbers and staged a protest outside the Katigorah police station, demanding justice and strict action against the jawans involved. The protesters also gheraoed the police station, accusing the BSF of regularly harassing local residents.
