Over 1,700 Indians expelled from US in 2025, Indian parliament told

Modi regime silent on humiliation of deportees

New Delhi: India’s international image under Narendra Modi government has taken another hit as the United States deported 1,703 Indian nationals between January 20 and July 22 this year, with 10 of the victims hailing from occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the number was officially presented in the Indian Parliament. The deportations – including those carried out on military and chartered flights – reflect a disturbing trend of mass expulsions of Indian citizens involved in irregular immigration. While the majority of deportees were from Punjab (620), Haryana (604), and Gujarat (245), ten were from occupied Jammu and Kashmir, revealing the mounting desperation among its residents under continued Indian repression.

Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh admitted in Parliament that deportees faced shackling, including women and children, and that India had to “register concerns” with US authorities over violations of religious and cultural sensitivities, such as mishandling of turbans and dietary neglect.

Despite claims of “humane deportation practices,” Indian authorities failed to ensure dignity for its nationals, exposing their diplomatic impotence.
Meanwhile, the Kashmiris among the deportees remain largely voiceless, bearing the compounded brunt of India’s domestic repression and international negligence.
