4 dead, many Indian army men among 59 missing in Uttarakhand mudslide
Uttarkashi: At least four people have died and over 59 others, including nine Indian Army personnel, are missing after devastating flash floods and mudslide swept through Uttarakhand in northern India, following a series of cloudbursts.
According to Kashmir Media Service, three back-to-back cloudbursts within three hours unleashed a terrifying wave of water, mud, and rocks in the Dharali region, destroying homes, shops, and an entire market area.
A massive joint rescue operation by Indian Army personnel and disaster relief teams is underway to locate the missing individuals.
Lt Col Manish Shrivastava, PRO (Defence) Dehradun, confirmed the scale of destruction and said, “Out of the 11 Army personnel initially feared missing, two have been rescued safely so far.”
