BJP regime demolishes Muslim shrine in Uttarakhand
Ramnagar: In continuation of the BJP-led regime’s anti-Muslim campaign in Uttarakhand, authorities demolished a decades-old Muslim shrine in Ramnagar, amid heavy police presence.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demolition was carried out with a bulldozer following demands from Hindutva organisations, who claimed the shrine was “illegal” and disturbed the “environment” of the school.
The Sub-District Magistrate said more than 20 such mazars had been removed in Ramnagar and adjoining areas.
Local Muslims rejected the “encroachment” claim, calling it part of a broader drive to erase Muslim heritage in the state. Residents said the shrine, used for prayers for decades, held deep religious and historical value, and condemned the targeting of only Muslim sites while ignoring similar structures of other communities.
Rights groups have denounced the bulldozer actions in BJP-ruled states as discriminatory and intended to create fear among Muslims.
