Indian troops continue CASO in Uri area of Baramulla

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian forces’ personnel continue a cordon and search operation in Uri area of Baramulla district following the killing of an Indian soldier in an attack on Wednesday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the operation has sparked widespread fear and resentment among local residents.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh, said the operation in Uri is still underway. “Once it’s done, we will be going to the spot to assess the happenings. The Army is on the job and we don’t want to disrupt the ongoing operation”, he added.

Following the killing of the Indian soldier, house-to-house searches were launched in the area. The residents in the area speaking anonymously to some media outlets complained that Indian forces were using the searches as a pretext for harassment and arbitrary arrests.
