Bridges collapse, highways shut as floods leave devastation across IIOJK

Srinagar: Torrential rains have unleashed devastation across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, snapping road connectivity, flooding rivers, and leaving a trail of death and destruction.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Jammu-Pathankot and Srinagar-Jammu highways remain shut after massive landslides and collapse of a key bridge, stranding hundreds of vehicles. A landslide on the Katra route to the Vaishno Devi shrine killed 34 pilgrims, while four more people perished in Doda district in rain-related incidents.
Authorities confirmed that major bridges, including the Devak near Vijaypur, have collapsed, while inter-district roads lie blocked under debris. In Jammu city, two bridges over the Tawi were closed as the river swelled to record levels, surpassing the catastrophic 2014 floods.
With over 250 mm of rainfall in 20 hours, rivers across Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts have crossed danger marks, prompting urgent evacuation alerts. Officials have warned of more casualties as clearance operations remain hampered by relentless rains.
