Syed Ali Gilani’s mission will continue to inspire Kashmiris: Gulzar

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has paid glowing tributes to veteran leader Syed Ali Gilani on his fourth martyrdom anniversary, terming him an iconic symbol of resistance and a torchbearer of the Kashmir freedom struggle.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC Vice Chairman, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, in a statement in Srinagar said that Syed Ali Gilani was not just a leader but an institution whose lifelong struggle and sacrifices will continue to guide and inspire generations of freedom-loving Kashmiris. He described Gilani as an embodiment of courage, steadfastness and a legendary figure who dedicated his entire life to Islam and the just cause of Kashmir’s freedom from Indian yoke.
Gulzar said that Gilani commanded unparalleled respect among Kashmiris for his unwavering stance on the Kashmir dispute. “Despite prolonged imprisonments, house arrests, mental torture and repeated assassination attempts by Indian agencies, Gilani stood like a rock against India’s brutal occupation. His passion for resistance was invincible, and India can never erase Kashmiris’ love for their beloved leader,” he added.
He pointed out that Gilani’s famous slogan “We are Pakistanis, Pakistan is ours” reverberates in every nook and corner of occupied Kashmir even today, under the presence of over one million Indian troops. He stressed that Gilani remained a staunch supporter of Kashmir’s merger with Pakistan throughout his life and never compromised on the right to self-determination.
The APHC leader lamented that Gilani’s custodial martyrdom in September 2021 was one of the most tragic episodes of Kashmir’s history. “The Indian forces, terrified even of his dead body, snatched it from his family and buried him in the dead of night in absence of his loved ones,” Gulzar said. He added that denying Kashmiris the right to offer funeral prayers for their iconic leader was an inhuman act that exposed New Delhi’s cowardice.
He described Gilani as the father of the present resistance movement, whose sermons, books and teachings educated Kashmiris about their rights and the curse of Indian slavery. “Gilani’s struggle is a role model of fearlessness and unflinching commitment, transcending time, and will continue to kindle the spirit of resistance among future generations,” he emphasized.
Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar reiterated the pledge that Kashmiris will keep treading the path shown by Syed Ali Gilani until the mission of freedom is achieved. “Every Kashmiri has become Gilani for India, and the struggle will continue until Jammu and Kashmir is freed from Indian occupation,” he vowed.
