SHO among 25 injured, 20 structures damaged as fire engulfs Bandipora village

Srinagar: A massive fire broke out in the remote Tulail area of Gurez in Bandipora district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), damaging around 20 structures and injuring at least 25 people, including the local Station House Officer (SHO).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the blaze started this morning from a residential house in the remote Kashpat village and quickly spread to nearby buildings, fueled by the predominantly wooden construction.

Local residents, along with Fire and Emergency Services and other authorities, launched a joint effort to control the fire. The village’s limited road access and lack of consistent telecommunication facilities delayed the flow of information and the response efforts.

“Nearly 20 structures were involved in the fire. Our teams from Tulail and Dawar worked tirelessly and finally brought the blaze under control,” a senior officer of the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Department said.

Block Medical Officer (BMO) Gurez, Dr. Firoz Iqbal, confirmed that 25 people, including SHO Mir Kazim, sustained injuries. Two, including the SHO, were shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Dawar, for treatment.
