Tributes paid to veteran leader Syed Ali Gilani ahead of his martyrdom anniversary

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) paid glowing tributes to the veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani ahead of his fourth martyrdom anniversary, calling the martyred leader’s lifelong struggle, steadfastness, and unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause a guiding light for freedom-loving Kashmiris.
According to Kashmir Media Service, DFP spokesperson Advocate Arshad Iqbal, in a statement in Srinagar, said that Syed Ali Gilani remained resolute like a rock on his stance regarding the Kashmir dispute. He added that Gilani’s immortal role in the freedom movement will be inscribed in golden letters in the history of Kashmir.
Iqbal described Syed Ali Gilani as a fearless leader who, refusing to compromise with the deceitful enemy, became a powerful voice for the oppressed people. He also condemned India for secretly burying the martyred leader at night, keeping millions of his admirers away from his funeral.
The DFP vowed that the people of Kashmir will, at all costs, carry forward the mission of Syed Ali Gilani and countless other Kashmiri martyrs to its logical conclusion.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating health of the DFP’s detained chairman, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, and other Kashmiris imprisoned in Indian jails, the spokesperson urged international human rights organizations to take effective notice of the matter and pressure India to release all Kashmiri political detainees.
Hurriyat leader Pirzada Attaullah, in a statement in Srinagar, paid tribute to Syed Ali Gilani, highlighting his lifelong struggle against illegal Indian occupation. He noted Gilani’s deep love for Pakistan and his vision of Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan, adding that his slogan, “We are Pakistanis, Pakistan is ours,” continues to resonate worldwide.
APHC-AJK Information Secretary, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, in a statement issued in Islamabad, paying homage to Syed Ali Gilani, saying that he spent his entire life resisting oppressive Indian rule, never deviating from his principled stance. He described Syed Ali Gilani as more than a leader, saying he was a symbol of continuous struggle, unwavering conviction, revolution, hope, and light. He emphasized that Gilani’s life and sacrifices reaming a milestone in the Kashmir freedom movement, proving that the struggle for Kashmiris’ freedom is an enduring, invincible reality.
It is noteworthy that Syed Ali Gilani embraced martyrdom in the custody of Indian police on September 01, 2021, at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar, where he had been kept under continued house arrest for over a decade. Despite his wish to be buried at Mazar-e-Shuhada in Eidgah, Srinagar, Indian forces forcibly buried him at night in the Hyderpora cemetery.
