30 women booked in Kerala for raising pro-Palestine slogans, flags
Kannu: As targeting of pro-Palestine activists continues, an FIR was booked against the Girls Islamic Organisation (GIO) at Pazhayangadi Police Station in Kerala’s Kannur district for raising pro-Palestine slogans, flags and banners.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Pazhayangadi police have registered an FIR against GIO Kerala General Secretary Afra Shihab and 30 other members of the organisation.
According to the suo-motu FIR, on Friday at Madayipara, around 30 workers of the Girls Islamic Organisation, led by Afra Shihab, held a demonstration in the environmentally significant Madayipara area, raising various flags and banners and chanting pro-Palestine slogans while moving through the area, without permission,” the complaint alleged.
The video of the demonstration shows participants chanting slogans such as “Free, free Palestine,” “Down with occupation,” and “Israel is a terrorist state” during the protest held on Friday.
This comes as global outrage intensifies over Israel’s actions in Gaza, where, since October 7, 2023, around 64,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed by Israel, nearly 162,005 wounded, and civilians continue to suffer under Israel’s months-long blockade and enforced famine.
