BJP-Hindu nexus unleashes violence on mosques in Karnataka
Islamabad: In Maddur, Karnataka, Bharatiya Janata Party-backed Hindu groups attacked a mosque during a Ganesh procession, exposing Modi government’s bias and failure to stop communal violence against minorities, escalating communal tensions and unrest.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in Maddur, Mandya district, an outbreak of stone-pelting targeted a mosque during a Ganesh immersion procession, leaving communities shaken and once again revealing the Modi-led BJP government’s blatant bias.
Over 20 individuals were detained by police, but the attack exposed a disturbing failure in preventing orchestrated Hindu extremist violence against minorities.
Eyewitnesses describe how the procession, which had complied with police demands—lowering music and shortening the ritual route—suddenly turned violent near the mosque. Stones were hurled aggressively by elements within the procession, while inflammatory slogans heightened tensions, demonstrating the active role of BJP-backed Hindu groups in instigating communal strife.
This incident mirrors past episodes, including last year’s Nagamangala violence where mobs armed with swords and petrol bombs attacked Muslim neighborhoods with impunity. The BJP’s fact-finding committee not only legitimized these claims but also deflected accountability while demanding NIA investigations, highlighting a political strategy that enables violence under the guise of protecting ‘Hindu pride.’
The BJP leaders, including Karnataka’s state President B.Y. Vijayendra, have repeatedly politicized these flashpoints to deepen societal divisions, blaming minority communities and ignoring the acquiescence or active involvement of their cadre in attacks. The police compromised role, tied to BJP’s reluctance to authorize decisive action, exemplifies systemic partiality.
These recurrent attacks unravel the Modi government’s professed commitment to secularism, instead confirming a communal agenda that emboldens Hindu extremist groups while marginalizing minorities.
This dangerous trajectory threatens India’s pluralistic democracy, pressing urgent demands for impartial law enforcement and political accountability.
