Indian forces kill 10 tribe activists in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Indian forces killed at least 10 tribe activists, including Balakrishna, a senior leader and Central Committee member of the Communist Party of India-Maoist, in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the tribal members were killed by Indian forces during a cordon and search operation in the forest under Mainpur police station limits

“Personnel belonging to the Special Task Force (STF), a unit of the Chhattisgarh police), E-30, a unit of the district police), CoBRA, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action, an elite unit of the CRPF, and other police units participated in the operation.

According to police, the operation was launched based on the inputs about the movement of top Naxalites in the area, located over 180 km from capital Raipur.

With the latest action, 241 Naxalites have been killed in separate operations in Chhattisgarh so far this year.
