Administration places Mirwaiz under house arrest in IIOJK, not allowed to offer Juma prayers

Srinagar: The administration in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has once again placed All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest in Srinagar and did not allow him to offer Friday prayers at the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq wrote on the social networking site “X” “I have been placed under house arrest and have not been allowed to offer congregational prayers at the Jamia Masjid, which is a clear interference in religious matters.”

He wrote, “A Majlis Rahmatul-l-Alameen was also to be held in the Jamia Masjid, in which many respected scholars were to participate. Our human and political rights have been taken away. There is also continuous interference in our religious affairs. The installation of the “Ashoka Nishan” plaque in the Hazratbal Dargah, changes in the holidays of the Islamic calendar, and not allowing religious ceremonies in mosques are all undue interference in our religious affairs.”
