Firdous Ahmad Mir,Srinagar, : A father of three children was martyred in custody by the Indian Army in Bandipora district of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Firdous Ahmad Mir, a labourer from Mir Mohalla in Hajin, Bandipora, was picked up by troops of the Indian Army’s 13 Rashtriya Rifles on September 11 and taken to the Hajin army camp. He never returned. Days later, his tortured body was recovered from the River Jhelum in the Banayari area of the district.

Family members of the victim told media that Mir had been arrested by the Indian Army and subjected to severe torture before being killed inside the army camp. Torture marks were visible on his body, confirming custodial abuse.

Mir’s custodial killing sparked widespread protests in Hajin. Mourners took out a protest rally demanding justice for the victim and accountability for those responsible. Indian police later took possession of the body.

It is worth mentioning that on August 28, 2025, Indian troops had martyred two Kashmiris in a fake encounter in Gurez area of Bandipora.

These are not isolated cases of extrajudicial killings in IIOJK. Since 1989, over 7,400 Kashmiris have been killed in custody or staged encounters by Indian forces in the occupied territory.

Since the Pahalgam attack of April 22, 2025, Indian troops have martyred 44 Kashmiris, arrested over 3,190 people, and demolished 81 homes. Yet, despite this repression, Kashmiris remain steadfast in their quest for freedom.

Observers note that India continues to unleash terror in IIOJK — arresting political leaders and activists under draconian laws while subjecting ordinary Kashmiris to enforced disappearances, fake encounters, and custodial killings. They stress that the writing on the wall is clear: no amount of India’s brutality can crush the Kashmiris’ freedom movement.
