Prof Butt will be remembered for all times to come: JKLF

Islamabad: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has expressed its deep sorrow and grief over the passing away of senior Hurriyat leader Professor Abdul Gani Butt, who passed away on Wednesday evening in Sopore, Indian illegally occupied Jammu Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a joint statement issued from the party’s central information office, the JKLF chief spokesman, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, on behalf of his party leadership, paid rich tributes to the deceased for his services he rendered in the ongoing struggle for freedom of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that in the history of Kashmir Prof Butt will be remembered for all times to come for his vision, expression and statesmanship.

The spokesman said that Prof. Butt was a peacemaker, a great statesman, far-sighted intellectual, an academician and a visionary political leader of occupied Jammu Kashmir. He termed his demise as a great loss for the struggling people of Jammu Kashmir. From Muslim United Front (MUF) to All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) he proved himself an unmatched orator who would always speak of sense and wisdom, Rafiq Dar added.

Prof. Abdul Ghani Butt left with great memories of the last few decades of struggle, and as a companion and comrade the incarcerated party chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik will surely feel his demise for the memories they behold, the statement read.

According to the statement, the JKLF leadership, while offering condolences to his family, in particular, and to the Kashmiri people, in general, prayed for utmost rest of his soul in Jannah.
