APHC-AJK welcomes PM Shehbaz Sharif’s bold statement on Kashmir

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has welcomed the bold and fact-based statement of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC-AJK in a statement issued by its information secretary Mushtaq Ahmad Butt in Islamabad described the Prime Minister’s stance as the true representation of the Kashmiri people. It said the statement not only reflects the voice of the Kashmiri nation but also identifies the only viable path towards peace and stability in South Asia.

The statement expressed hope that until a just and lasting settlement of the Kashmir dispute is achieved in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, Pakistan would continue to extend its political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people.

The APHC-AJK said that despite the historic success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsous and India’s clear defeat, the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir remains extremely grim. The so-called Chief Minister’s own admissions, it said, testify to the reality that India’s brutal repression—including extrajudicial killings, mass arrests, confiscation of properties, and the settlement of non-locals—continues with intensity to erase the Muslim majority character of the territory and to deprive Kashmiris of their UN-mandated right to self-determination.

The statement maintained that these measures are a blatant violation of international law and UN resolutions. It urged the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the European Union, and global human rights organizations to take cognizance of India’s illegal, unconstitutional and inhuman actions in the occupied territory, and to fulfill their moral and legal responsibilities by pressuring New Delhi to halt these measures.

The APHC-AJK emphasized that the international community must acknowledge the reality that peace in South Asia will remain elusive until the Kashmiri people are granted their inalienable right to self-determination, as recognized at the global level.
