JKLF sounds alarm over worsening health of jailed chief Yasin Malik

Islamabad: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has raised alarm over the rapidly deteriorating health of its chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, who has been illegally held in New Delhi’s notorious Tihar Jail for over six years on politically motivated charges.
According to Kashmir Media Service, JKLF chief spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar, in a statement, said Yasin Malik’s health has worsened due to prolonged solitary confinement and lack of adequate medical care. His metallic heart valve, implanted in 1990, urgently needs replacement, and recent test reports confirm the severity of his health condition, he added.
Rafiq Dar said that despite approaching Delhi courts last year for proper treatment, jail authorities, acting on directives from the Modi regime, refused to admit him to a hospital capable of performing the required surgery. Even two days ago, when Yasin Malik suffered a severe heart pain, he was only admitted to the jail hospital, which lacks facilities for major cardiac procedures.
Dar warned that Yasin Malik’s life is in continuous danger without immediate surgery and urged the Indian government to provide proper medical care, emphasizing that access to healthcare is a fundamental prisoner right. He cautioned New Delhi of serious consequences if any harm comes to the jailed JKLF chief.
