Congress launches signature drive in Jammu for restoration of IIOJK’s statehood

Jammu: The Indian National Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has launched a massive signature campaign across various parts of Jammu, demanding the restoration of full statehood to the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, while launching the campaign, Congress Working President Raman Bhalla strongly criticized the BJP-led Indian government for depriving the people of IIOJK of their democratic and constitutional rights.
Bhalla said that the continued denial of statehood was not an administrative necessity but a politically driven move aimed at consolidating the BJP’s power in the territory. He added that the decision had caused deep frustration among the people, who feel ignored and alienated by New Delhi.
“The BJP has so far denied full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, and this is a grave injustice to our people. The move was driven by political gain rather than the welfare of citizens. It has left our people deprived, neglected, and voiceless,” Bhalla asserted.
Bhalla further questioned the performance of the 28 BJP MLAs elected from Jammu region, challenging them to explain what substantial contributions they had made toward Jammu’s development or for resolving the genuine grievances of the people.
Reaffirming his party’s commitment to the restoration of full statehood to IIOJK, Bhalla said the Congress would continue to raise its voice for the political and constitutional rights of the people.
The signature campaign was being conducted by Congress leaders across various areas of Jammu.
