Pakistan rejects Indian delegate’s remarks on IIOJK at UN
New York: Pakistan has strongly rejected the Indian delegate’s statement on Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) at the United Nations, reaffirming that the territory remains an internationally recognized dispute awaiting resolution in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Pakistan’s First Secretary to the United Nations, Zulfiqar Ali, while exercising the right of reply during the UN Sixth Committee’s debate on the agenda item “Crimes Against Humanity,” said that India’s false narrative cannot change the legal and historical reality of Jammu and Kashmir’s disputed status.
He stressed that UN resolutions explicitly guarantee the Kashmiri people their inalienable right to self-determination, which India continues to deny through military occupation and systematic repression. He categorically rejected New Delhi’s claim that Kashmir is its “integral part,” terming it contrary to international law, historical facts, and the United Nations resolutions.
Zulfiqar Ali further underscored that labelling the Kashmiri freedom struggle as terrorism is unjust, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to delegitimize a lawful quest for freedom.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause, the Pakistani diplomat urged the international community to ensure the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions that call for a free and impartial plebiscite to determine the future of Jammu and Kashmir.
