Massive mysterious fire guts several houses in Srinagar’s Fateh Kadal
Srinagar: A massive mysterious fire broke out late Monday night in the Narparistan area of Fateh Kadal, Srinagar, damaging several residential houses and causing widespread panic among residents.
According to Kashmir Media Service, officials from the Fire and Emergency Services Department said they received a distress call at 10:59 PM, after which fire tenders from Babdem Fire Station and F&ES Headquarters Command Srinagar were immediately dispatched. The flames quickly spread through the congested locality, engulfing five to six residential structures before reinforcements from MR Gunj, Habakadal, Safakadal, and Rainawari fire stations arrived.
While there were no immediate reports of casualties, the cause of the fire and the extent of property loss are yet to be ascertained. Locals said the blaze spread rapidly due to the area’s dense construction and wooden houses, highlighting the vulnerability of Srinagar’s old city neighborhoods.
