Srinagar: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world are observing Jammu Martyrs’ Day, today, reaffirming their unwavering resolve to continue the martyrs’ mission until the achievement of their inalienable right to self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, hundreds of thousands of Muslims were mercilessly massacred by the forces of Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh, the Indian Army, and armed Hindu extremists in various parts of Jammu region during the first week of November 1947, while they were migrating to Pakistan.

Special prayers are being offered in mosques across Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan for the early liberation of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir from Indian subjugation and for the progress, prosperity, and stability of Pakistan and AJK.

The Jammu massacre of November 1947 is remembered as one of the darkest chapters in human history — the first genocide on such a massive scale after the Second World War. Every year, Kashmiris observe the day to honour the martyrs of Jammu whose blood laid the foundation of the ongoing freedom struggle.

In Jammu, the United Peace Alliance organized a programme to pay glowing tributes to the martyrs, highlighting their supreme sacrifices for the cause of Kashmir’s freedom.

Meanwhile, All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders, in their tributes to the Jammu martyrs, appealed to the world community to take urgent notice of India’s unending atrocities in IIOJK and to hold New Delhi accountable for its crimes against humanity.

The APHC leaders urged the United Nations and global powers to press India to halt its brutalities and to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant UN resolutions.
