Sopore residents resent acute water shortage

Srinagar: Residents of Sopore, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, have resented acute water shortage that has persisted for decades, saying the crisis has made daily life unbearable.
According to Kashmir Media Service, locals said they have been forced to depend on alternative and often unsafe sources of water due to the absence of a reliable supply. “Every year we raise our voices, but nothing changes. We are left to suffer in silence,” said a resident. He said the shortage becomes severe in the colder months when the water pressure in pipes almost vanishes.
Despite repeated pleas to the authorities, residents said, no meaningful action has been taken to address the long-pending problem. “Water is a basic need, not a privilege. Yet we have been deprived of it for years,” said another local, appealing to the administration to restore regular and sufficient supply without delay.
“During elections, leaders visit our area with promises of clean water and better services, but once they win, we are forgotten,” said an elderly resident.
