Arrest

Even doctors not spared as two arrested in India’s crackdown in IIOJK

Srinagar: In yet another shocking incident reflecting the deepening atmosphere of fear and suspicion in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian police have arrested two doctors and claimed to have recovered an AK-47 rifle from the locker of a senior resident doctor at Government Medical College (GMC) Islamabad.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the two detained doctors, hailing from Qazigund and Pulwama, were taken into custody after Indian Police launched an operation at the medical college. The police registered a case under draconian sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act, further tightening the noose on professionals in the occupied territory.

The arrests have sparked widespread concern among medical professionals, who say such actions have created a climate of intimidation where even doctors are not spared from arbitrary detentions under fabricated charges.

Medical professionals noted that the incident exposes the extent to which Indian authorities are using repressive laws to criminalize ordinary citizens, professionals, and intellectuals in the occupied territory under the pretext of security.
