Ghulam Muhammad Safi hopes new AJK govt will prioritize Kashmir freedom movement
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has expressed its best wishes for the newly elected Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, while hoping that he will place the Kashmir freedom movement at the forefront of his priorities, given the grave and sensitive nature of the Kashmir dispute.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement in Islamabad, APHC-AJK Convenor Ghulam Muhammad Safi congratulated the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on the peaceful transfer of power. He also praised former AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq for his courageous and principled stance on the Kashmir dispute. Safi commended Haq’s clear, unwavering, and fact-based position, which not only reflected the aspirations of the Kashmiri people but also aligned perfectly with the core demands of the Kashmir freedom movement.
Safi emphasized that, to strengthen the movement, it is essential for the AJK government to allocate the necessary resources. He expressed confidence that the new Prime Minister will adopt a bold and coordinated approach, taking into account the recent Indian oppression in Kashmir, the continuing demographic engineering, the plight of political prisoners, widespread human rights violations, and the Kashmiri people’s ongoing struggle for their right to self-determination.
The APHC AJK Convenor further stated that the freedom struggle has now entered a decisive phase, and in such critical times, the responsibilities of the AJK government have become even more crucial. He urged the new government to enhance its political, diplomatic, and moral role to effectively highlight the Kashmir dispute on the international stage and to use all available resources to expose India’s state-sponsored repression in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Safi concluded by reaffirming that the All Parties Hurriyat Conference will continue to serve as the representative voice of the Kashmiri people with steadfastness, courage, and political vision. The Hurriyat, he said, will remain closely engaged and aligned with the Azad Kashmir government, refugee communities, and political and religious organizations to meet the demands of the ongoing freedom struggle.
