Ruhullah blames ‘serious professional lapses’ for Nowgam police station blast

Srinagar: National Conference Lok Sabha member Agha Syed Ruhullah has demanded a transparent investigation into the accidental blast at the Nowgam Police Station, stressing that accountability must be fixed for the lapses that caused the deadly incident.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ruhullah visited the injured at a private hospital in Srinagar and told reporters that the authorities must “properly investigate the incident and prepare a factual report” to determine responsibility. He said it must be conclusively established whether the blast was an accident, as claimed by officials, or the result of negligence.
Ruhullah said the handling of highly explosive material inside a residential locality reflected “serious professional lapses,” adding that untrained personnel dealing with such dangerous substances had put civilian lives at risk. He said the explosion caused irreparable loss of life and long-term suffering for affected families.
Rejecting accusations that political parties were exploiting the issue, the MP said Kashmiris have avoided speculation on the incident. He said the government must clarify key questions surrounding the blast, especially since law and order remain under the control of the Lieutenant Governor’s administration.
Commenting on the questioning of doctors in the so-called “white-collar terror module” case, Ruhullah stressed that while investigations must continue, innocent people must not be dragged into suspicion without evidence.
