JKLA demands immediate release of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders, activists

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Alliance (JKLA) has expressed concern over the plight of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists imprisoned in Indian jails and demanded their immediate release.

According to Kashmir Media Service, JKLA spokesperson Sajjad Mir in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Indian authorities are depriving the detained leaders and activists of all basic needs, including medical care, and are targeting them for political revenge.

He said leaders, including Masarat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sufi and Dr Qasim Faktoo, have been under detention in various jails for a long time, which is a clear proof of India’s stubbornness and policy of suppressing the Kashmiri people.

Sajjad Mir once again reiterated his stance that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and the United Nations has recognized the right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination, for which they are peacefully struggling.

He urged the international community to play its role for the release of the Kashmiri leadership and the resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.
