Indian Army tank sinks during canal crossing exercise, one officer dies
New Delhi: The lack of professionalism in the Indian Army has once again come to light as an officer has died after a tank fell into a canal during a training exercise in the state of Rajasthan.
According to Kashmir Media Service, an Indian Army tank sank in the Indira Gandhi Canal in Sri Ganganagar district of the state, killing a soldier.
According to Indian media reports, two officers in the tank managed to save their lives in the accident, while one of their colleagues was trapped and died.
Due to the delayed arrival of rescue teams, the soldier’s body was found far from the scene of the accident.
After the accident, rescue teams and the Civil Defense Force recovered the body of the deceased officer after several hours of effort.
This accident is not the first of its kind in India. Earlier, in June last year, five officers drowned when a military tank was swept away while crossing a river in the Ladakh region.
In October 2022, a tank exploded during a firing exercise, killing two officers and seriously injuring one.
These incidents show that there was a serious lack of safety measures and professionalism during military exercises or training in India.
