275 Adivasis, labelled as Naxalites, killed in fake encounters this year

Bijapur: Indian forces have killed twelve Adivasi tribe members in Chhattisgarh state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the twelve Adivasi members were killed by the Indian Central Reserve Police Force and the District Reserve Guard during a cordon-and-search operation in the Bijapur district of the state.
Three personnel of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), a specialised unit of the state police, were also killed and two others injured in an attack during the operation in a forest area along the Bijapur–Dantewada border, where a joint team of Indian forces personnel was carrying out an anti-Naxal operation, IGP (Bastar Range) Sundarraj Pattilingam said.
So far, the bodies of 12 Naxalites have been recovered from the site of the operation. One of them has been identified as Modiyam Vella, while the identities of the remaining deceased cadres are yet to be confirmed, he added.
Indian police officers described the deceased as Naxalites, who are demanding their political rights and an independent state free from Indian hegemony and Brahminic rule.
A total of 275 Adivasi tribe members, labelled as Naxalites by Indian forces, have been killed during operations and alleged fake encounters in Chhattisgarh so far this year.
