Leh–Manali highway closed for winter; authorities warn commuters

Srinagar: The 428-km Leh–Manali highway has been officially closed for all vehicular movement from Monday due to severe winter conditions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ladakh Police advised the public to avoid travel on the route, citing heavy snowfall, freezing temperatures, and high risk of road blockages.
The highway, which connects Leh with Manali in Himachal Pradesh, serves as a vital alternative to the Srinagar–Leh road. Officials said the closure will remain in place until snow is cleared from the four high-altitude passes, and warned commuters against attempting travel during the winter months.
