India urged to restore IIOJK statehood without further delay

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu & Kashmir, National Conference Women’s Wing President and MLA Shameema Firdous has urged the Indian government to restore full statehood to occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying there is no justification for further delay.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shameema Firdous said the restoration of statehood is a legitimate democratic right of the people of Kashmir and a pledge repeatedly made at constitutional and political forums. She warned that prolonged uncertainty has deepened public discontent and eroded trust in democratic institutions.
“There is absolutely no reason to withhold the promised statehood any longer. Restoring statehood is essential for accountable governance, strengthening democratic institutions, and addressing the aspirations of the people,” she said.
The NC Women’s Wing President emphasized that elected representatives must be empowered to function effectively to tackle pressing social, economic, and developmental challenges faced by the region. She added that statehood is crucial for safeguarding the dignity, rights, and identity of the Kashmiri people.
