Int’l Human Solidarity Day: Oppressed Kashmiris await justice and global support

Islamabad: As the world observes International Human Solidarity Day, the oppressed people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continue to await justice, rights, and solidarity.
A report issued by Kashmir Media Service on the occasion urged nations committed to justice and fairness to focus on the plight of Kashmiris, subjected to Indian atrocities since 1947, and help them achieve their inalienable right to self-determination, recognized by the United Nations.
The report said that in October 1947, India forcefully occupied large parts of Muslim-majority Jammu and Kashmir and, in retaliation for demands for freedom, made life unbearable for the Kashmiri people. Indian forces continue to commit serious crimes against humanity in the occupied territory.
It highlighted that the BJP-led government under Narendra Modi launched a severe assault on IIOJK in August 2019, revoking the territory’s special status. The Hindutva BJP government has stripped Kashmiris of their basic rights and continues to inflict atrocities against those demanding their birthright—the right to self-determination.
The report said that Kashmiris are enduring mass killings, dispossession from homes and lands, dismissal from jobs, and unemployment under Indian occupation. Over 4,000 Kashmiris remain imprisoned on false charges, and the international community’s silence has emboldened India to continue its crimes.
The report called on justice-loving people worldwide to raise their voice in support of the oppressed Kashmiri people and urged the United Nations to hold India accountable for ongoing serious crimes against humanity and ensure enforcement of its resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.
International Human Solidarity Day, observed globally on December 20, seeks to assist victims of natural disasters, protect human rights, and highlight the importance of unity and cooperation to end poverty and hardship worldwide.
