Godse physically killed Gandhi, Modi govt ‘killed his soul’
Congress slams vendetta politics and IIOJK statehood denial

Jammu: Congress leaders in Jammu have launched a scathing attack on the Modi-led Indian government, accusing it of destroying the ideals of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and trampling upon workers’ rights, federal principles, and the democratic ethos of India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a press conference at the Jammu Congress office, AICC Spokesperson Surinder Singh Rajput said that while Nathuram Godse physically killed Gandhi, the BJP government “killed his soul” by systematically undermining his ideology and destroying schemes that empowered the poor and rural India.
Rajput specifically targeted the Modi government for repealing the Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, calling it “the most revolutionary post-independence legislation” that guaranteed work and dignity to over 12 crore workers.
The Congress leader also condemned the BJP’s vendetta politics against the party’s leadership.
On the issue of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Rajput emphasized that restoration of statehood is a fundamental right being arbitrarily denied by the Modi government. He asserted that the Congress party will intensify its struggle for the rights of the people of Kashmir, with full backing from the party’s central leadership.
He concluded by warning that the Modi government’s policies are bound to devastate India’s youth with record unemployment while eroding the democratic and social foundations laid by Gandhi.
